…a great start to the season for our Junior Boys and Girls Varsity and Novice teams! We enjoyed heading to Sammamish and seeing some of the other teams there!
Shout out to our coaches, rowers, parents and volunteers! Let’s have a fun year!

A reminder! This Sunday we are the christening our brand-new Pocock 4+!
This beautiful boat will be dedicated to John Foy, a cherished member of the BIR community whose passion and dedication have shaped our organization over the past 25 years. John joined BIR in its inaugural year, served as Board President (2002–2003), and has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2014. His connection to rowing also extends through his family, with his daughter Jeanne serving as a junior rower and coxswain for the adult men’s boat.
John’s milestones include being part of the first BIR boat to compete at the Head of the Charles Regatta, a testament to his enduring commitment to rowing and our community. We are honored to celebrate him during this christening.
Event Details:
When: Sunday, March 30th, 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM

Following the christening ceremony, we’ll take the new boat on its inaugural row—a perfect way to mark this momentous occasion.
This incredible addition to our fleet was made possible thanks to generous community grants from the Bainbridge Community Foundation, Rotary, BI Parks & Trails Foundation, and a thoughtful gift from an additional donor.
We look forward to seeing you there to celebrate this meaningful moment togeth

TONIGHT at BIR! Our NEW mayor Ashley Mathews along with council members Leslie Schneider and Kirsten Hytopoulos are holding an event this evening at the boathouse and would love to hear from the BIR community. This is a great opportunity to put faces with COBI names and add your voice to a new initiative. See attached flyer for all the details.
BIR Great Room
Monday, March 17th
6:00 – 8:00 PM
This will be a casual working forum to explore the possibility of a Winslow shuttle. Imagine a BI Ride mini bus that drives in a continuous box shuttling people between high traffic corners of Winslow.
Light refreshments will be on hand, but sadly no green beer.

LET’S GOOOOOOO!
We are thrilled that you have found us and are interested in learning to row. Here at Bainbridge Island Rowing we believe that rowing changes lives through friendships, community, teamwork and the serenity of being out on the water. Every spring through summer, we offer Learn to Row classes on the water. During the winter months, we offer ‘Learn to Erg’ classes indoors on the erg (rowing machine).
The format is a Weekend Intensive followed by skills development rowing sessions twice a week for two weeks. You are expected to commit to and attend all sessions. Once you learned the skills and completed a Learn to Row class, you will have the opportunity to join our Novice rowing group. An essential part of BIR is safety and we require all participants that will be in our rowing shells to complete a float test. This is usually scheduled after a boathouse orientation on the evening of the first session at the Bainbridge Island Aquatics Center.
Head to our Learn-to-Row page now on our website for more details!

Shout out to all the volunteers that came out for the @biparkstrailsfoundation Work Day on the waterfront! Thank you @andrewblock178 for the images!
