BIR Juniors – Fall Season

Welcome to Junior Fall Crew 2023!

We’re looking forward to a fun and inspiring season both on and off the water!

See below for details about the season

8th Grade Fall Info

Parent and Rower Meeting: Saturday, September 16th, 9:30am
September 18- October 28, 2023
Practice Times: Mon and Wed 3:50-6pm, Sat 9:30-11:30am
Coach: Kristen Gagnon

Program Cost: $470 for program fees and $75 BIR dues

Additional Cost: $25 for USRowing membership ($20 for existing members) All rowers must have a valid US Rowing Membership (good for 365 days).

The ‘Great-Eights’ program is designed as a positive and inspiring introduction to the sport of rowing for any and all 8th graders (coed).  We employ a ground-up approach for the brand new athlete that aims to build their knowledge of equipment and safe practices, mechanics of the stroke and the principles of teamwork.  For the ‘rowing-curious’, our first week focuses on familiarization and fundamentals: starting on land and then moving into the stable ‘barge’ on the water. Registration will be capped at 20 participants.

2023 Fall Key Dates:

  • September 11th – Float Tests for all new rowers. Meet at the Aquatic Center anytime between 2pm and 2:45pm (float test takes 10 minutes). All rowers must have a float test on file.
  • September 16th, 9:30am – Parent and Rower Pre-season Meeting
  • September 18th – First day of fall season
  • October —, TBD – Scrimmage
