BIR Juniors – Fall Season 2020

BIR will be offering a single-rower boat (1x) based program which alternates personalized on-water technique instruction with land-based fitness training. We’re committed to this being a fun, fulfilling and unique experience! Rowers can expect fitness and technique-based, friendly competitive opportunities throughout the season.

If your student is interested in participating in Fall Crew, please add their name to the list by Sunday, 8/16 (using this embedded jotform).

NOTE: Participation is limited to 60 rowers (including 20 novice rowers maximum) and a pre-registration headcount is critical to our planning.

Who can participate?

Fall Crew will be open to all Kitsap County students entering grades 9-12.


In the Fall, we will be offering an orientation meeting for all parents. Information coming soon!

Float/Flip Tests

More specific program information will be available prior to the September 8th start date.


Approximately $650.
The cost will be adjusted based on the total headcount. There will not be any regatta fees, and scholarships are available to any rowers with financial need. BIR is committed to keeping our programs affordable and is extremely grateful to the Bainbridge Community Foundation for a 2020 grant which allows us to offer Junior Fall Crew with this expanded coach-to-rower ratio, at a reasonable fee……..

Practice Schedule

BIR Junior Fall Crew will run 5x/week (M-F); Tuesday, Sept. 8th – Friday, Oct. 30th.

Practice times/locations will vary by pod but will complement the BHS school schedule.

  • Monday: 1.5 hours; Rowing only, at Waterfront Park
  • 2x/week: 2.5 hours; Rowing and Land Workout, at Waterfront Park
  • 2x/week: 1.5 hours; Land Workout at one of two “outdoor, offsite locations” (exact locations will be on-island and determined by group size/activity).

Scrimmage & Regatta Schedule

In lieu of formal regattas, we are planning singles based scrimmages against rowers of similar experience. There will be no additional regatta fees.
