Join BIR on the water
Saturday, May 16th
Return to Rowing Day invites you to reconnect with the sport, your local club, and the rowing community, no matter how long it has been since you last rowed.
In partnership with USRowing, clubs across the country are hosting Return to Rowing days throughout the month of May. This is a relaxed, low-pressure opportunity to get back on the water, revisit the basics, and enjoy your time at the boathouse. Whether you rowed in high school, college, or later in life, you are welcome to join.

FAQ:
What will the day look like?
We’ll start the day with quick introductions and a boathouse tour before jumping into mixed lineups. Expect to spend at least an hour on the water supported by your new BIR teammates. Join us for Saturday coffee after practice.
I can’t make it on May 16th, but I want to get back into rowing. Help?
Reach out to our Programs Coordinator to set up a boathouse visit and maybe even a few guest rows.
How much rowing experience do I need to have?
We can work with any prior experience on the water, even if you haven’t rowed since high school. We will set you up in either a sweep or sculling boat with current rowers to support you.
What fitness level is required to participate?
You should be able to safely lift 35lbs and comfortably tread water for 10 minutes unassisted.
What should I wear?!
You’ll need beach shoes like Crocs because BIR launches from a beach. Bring a water bottle and wear fitted athletic clothing that won’t catch on the equipment.
Do I need to provide a float test?
No. You will be asked if you can tread water for 10 minutes unassisted. If you answer no, you will be required to wear slim fit PFD while on the water.
See you at the boathouse!
