“Eagle Harbor Eight” Graduate from BIR’s Second Learn to Row Intensive

At the start of Bainbridge Island Rowing’s second weekend intensive Learn to Row session, eight rowers-to-be set out on the water to learn the basics of crew. By the end, those same eight had graduated with an appreciation for the sport, a boater’s experience of Eagle Harbor, and an understanding of how to work together to propel smoothly through the water. The “Eagle Harbor Eight” already looked more like rowers, their smiles showing the satisfaction of learning new skills in a beautiful setting with a supportive community.

You too can be like them, working all the major muscle groups, breathing well, burning calories fast, enjoying an exercise that is easier on the body than most others, and basking in the happy glow of teamwork. Coming up in June and July you’ll have several more opportunities to go out with the boys and the girls in the boat.

  • June 2 is National Learn to Row Day—did you know that was a thing? Bainbridge Island Rowing will set you out on the stable rowing barge for a 45-minute sample of the sport. This free event happens at Waterfront Park between 9 a.m. and noon. Feet will get wet!
  • Looking for more time on the water? BIR is offering two-week Learn to Row sessions weekday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to noon. The six sessions happen June 5, 7, 9, 12, 14, and 16.
  • If  weekends are a better fit, we also offer a Learn to Row weekend intensive July 12, 14, and 15.
